Going In

We went into DC to visit the National Gallery. While waiting for the train I sketched My husband holding onto both kids.
Once we got on the train I was able to sketch my daughter looking out the window.

Happy New Year!

We entered the new year sick, tired, and grateful that we survived another 365 days.
Since my husband, both kids and I were all running fevers I took the liberty of not doing my hair today. My hair really wishes it could be in a bad eighties movie. Left alone, it always goes for that fluffy wavy flip back look.

Christmas Eliza

Here is a sketch of the gingerbread house decorating queen, my niece Eliza. I'm on the road so this was colored with the only coloring implement I could find at my folks' house - a red scripture marker. sad.

12 Days of Christmas: Friendly beast

As I racked my brain for Christmas things I like I remembered my favorite Christmas carol from childhood:
Jesus our brother, kind and good
Was humbly born in a stable rude
And the friendly beasts around Him stood
Jesus our brother, kind and good.

"I," said the donkey, shaggy and brown,
"I carried His mother up hill and down;
I carried her safely to Bethlehem town."
"I," said the donkey, shaggy and brown.

It's a good thing I liked the animals so much because in all the Christmas nativities I was part of I was always cast as a farm animal. Cow, donkey, camel. In my kid mind they were a lot better because they did something, not like Mary who just sat quietly  - BORING.
(I do as an adult have great respect for Mary, the real Mary)

12 Days of Christmas

I drew this on the first day of the 12 days of Christmas. It's a partridge in a pear tree. I'm not good at Christmas. This is my token effort since A loves the holiday.
